FAQ
Is there a minimum age requirement?
This will depend on the volunteering role. There is no maximum age limit to volunteer with us, as long as you are able to undertake the role. For driving roles, you will need to be 21 with a full UK Driving Licence. You can volunteer for EDA at 16 with parental permission.
I have a disability; how can I volunteer?
Yes. We welcome volunteers from those with extra support needs and we will do our best to make reasonable adjustments where possible in order to support you whilst volunteering with us.
How much time am I expected to dedicate to volunteering?
We have volunteering opportunities that cater to all schedules. Some opportunities will require only a couple hours a week, or even just 1 day a month. Alternatively, there may be some project style roles which may last a couple days a week for a period of time. We always strive to work with our volunteers to find a suitable match that will work well with your other commitments.
Will I need a DBS check?
There may be some roles which require a DBS check, however this will be clearly stated. Having a criminal record does not mean that you are excluded from volunteering. If you have any concerns, please contact us as admin@edodevaid.org
Can I volunteer with my friends?
Absolutely! We welcome groups of friends, colleagues, families etc to volunteer with us. Please email us at admin@edodevaid.org so that we can see how you can get involved.
Will my expenses be paid?
We will reimburse any pre-agreed out of pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering with us. Please email us at admin@edodevaid.org
Can refugees volunteer for EDA?
Yes, we welcome both refugees and asylum seekers to volunteer with us no matter the status of your claim. We will make sure that you feel respected, valued and are treated as an equal when volunteering with us.
